Shatavari / Indian Asparagus Root

Shatavari Root is considered the most important herb in Ayurveda medicine for women. Known for its part in maintaining a healthy hormonal balance in women and assists with problems associated with imbalance of these hormones, such as menopause and (PMS) premenstrual tension; it is also reported to help with the pain and symptoms of these female related problems. Its English translation is "she who possesses a hundred husbands" and refers to how the herb nourishes the female reproductive organs and also can enhance fertility

This herb is used for providing relief from menstrual pain and symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It also aids in controlling blood loss during menstruation and contains anti-inflammatory properties. According to the advocates of Shatavari it can enhance production of breast milk in nursing females.

Used internally for infertility, loss of libido, threatened miscarriage, menopausal problems. It both nourishes and cleanses the blood and the female reproductive organs. It is a good food for menopause or for those who have had hysterectomies, due to its hormone balancing qualities. It nourishes the ovum and increases fertility. This herb is known to increase positivity.

The male reproductive system will also benefit from Shatavari. It may be used in cases of sexual debility, impotence, low sperm production, and inflammation of sexual organs.

Shatavari is also helpful in conditions such as hyperacidity, stomach ulcers, dysentery, and bronchial infections as the upper respiratory tract are soothed by this herb. It aids the process of digestion, and at the same time, reduces inflammation caused by conditions like Crohn's disease. It is also said to be useful in reducing fever and prevent vomiting and diarrhoea caused by bacteria like, E. coli. Shatavari has also been used to reduce stress.
